This week, our interviewer Rachel talks to JoJo, who plays 'Kate' in Pirates of Penzance this coming week (7th to 11th June 2016).
How long have you been in Emco?
What is your favourite role you have played? Why?
Sarah in “Our House.” It’s a brilliant musical and was my first leading role playing alongside my husband. Listening to your 3 and 5 year old singing “Baggy Trousers” in the car is priceless!
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you during a show/rehearsal?
The bed collapsing in 'Witches of Eastwick' - watching Lance Vernon commando roll down the stage whilst we three witches got eaten by the sofa was hilarious – we still managed to fly though!
Give a brief description of the character you are playing.
Kate is the sister of Mabel, she is very close with Edith and Mabel but is annoyed that she has found her man!
What would your dream role be?
Oooh that's a tricky one. I haven't got just the one but Roxy Heart from Chicago is one of my favourites!
What's most challenging about your role?
Some of the high notes!
What do you love about your character?
I love playing alongside my friends - it's going to be a good giggle!
What is your pre show routine?
Eat, makeup, get on stage!
Tell me why people should come and watch this show.
It's a fun, family show with lots of laughs. It has a really strong cast and it’s a traditional favourite!
