Meet the Cast: Jack Powell

What is your favourite role you have played? Why?
My favourite role was playing Henry VIII in 'A Man For All Seasons’. I got to have lots of fun with him as I was quite young in Henry’s life.
2016music3What is the funniest thing that has happened to you during a show/rehearsal?
Breaking my leg before rehearsal - it may not sound too funny but it ended up leading to some very interesting rehearsal moments.
Give a brief description of the character you are playing.
I play the Pirate King. A brass and fearless leader of his rollicking pirate band. He takes what he wants, when he wants and is not against the marriage to daughters of a Major General.
2016-02-18 21.44.34aWhat would your dream role be?
I could say something silly like, "The next one." (Looks wistfully to the distance) But I think my dream role would be one where I can really delve into my character and have lots of interactions with other characters.
What would your character use as a chat up line?
I’ve sailed the seven seas, and you’re the sleekest schooner I’ve ever sighted!
What do you love/hate about your character?
I love his fearless nature but also the love he has for his band.
What celebrity would you like to play this role? Why?
I think seeing Hugh Jackman in this role could certainly be intriguing. He could definitely bring something to the character.

What is your pre show routine?
Plenty of water, stretching and a few vocal exercises, but mostly running over my lines in as many ways as I can.

Tell me why people should come and watch this show.
This is a show for any and every age. Swash buckling pirates, fair maidens and a man who must decide between his love and his duty. Not to mention the wonderful songs you’ll be humming all the way home!
